The best of the French Riviera. Shore excursion

What the tour is about
For those willing to get a feeling
of what
the French Riviera is
This is a short daytime excursion for those who want to squeeze every drop out of their limited hours. Picture this: you’re on a cruise ship, and instead of wandering aimlessly through a town you don’t know, hoping for a glorious culinary adventure but settling for a miserable burger, you end up wondering how to salvage your day so you can at least say something smug at dinner like, “Ah yes, when we were on the Côte d’Azur…”
Here’s a better plan: spend your time properly. See a lot, soak in something authentic, eat something wonderfully simple but absurdly delicious, the kind of food that tastes like the Mediterranean sunshine itself, all washed down with something beautifully chilled. Take it in with your eyes, lungs, and nose—not to become an expert, but to get a genuine sense of what this part of France is all about. If you’re into Instagram, fire up those stories and snap enough photos to make your mum proud. And don’t worry—you won’t be left watching your ship fade elegantly into the horizon without you
Go — but why, really
1
Because wandering around a random port in search of “local flavour” shouldn’t end with you sobbing into a sad, grey sandwich
2
Because the Côte d’Azur wasn’t meant to be admired from the buffet deck with a paper cup of coffee
3
Because you deserve more than a blurry photo and a fridge magnet to prove you were here
4
Because Nice smells like heaven, looks like a postcard, and tastes like you’ve finally made a decent life decision
5
Because Èze will ruin every other “charming village” you meet afterwards—and rightly so
6
Because nothing says “cruise success” like staggering back aboard with perfume in your bag and casino chips in your shoe
Tour itinerary
Stop 1: Nice – Cours Saleya, Old town
We usually start from Cannes or Villefranche, though we can launch from anywhere. The first leg of the trip takes a convenient half-hour—just enough time to get acquainted, decide whether we’re all tolerable company, and dive into a bit of local trivia. By evening, you’ll have enough casually acquired knowledge to make less fortunate cruise passengers seethe with envy. They won’t know any of it unless they’ve spent their wine-drinking hours rummaging through Wikipedia, which let’s face it, they won’t.
We suggest spending the longest stop here, even though most people are chomping at the bit to reach Monte Carlo. There are excellent reasons for this: the old town is a riot of color and charm, filled with places where the food is dangerously good. You can either go all in with a proper meal or just sit on one of those iconic blue chairs on the Promenade, nibbling a pain bagnat, squinting at the sea, and feeling like you’ve peaked in life. If you’re feeling ambitious, glance at something historic—say, 15th century, just old enough to sound impressive without being a burden. Then, fully satisfied, it’s back to the adventure
Stop 2: Èze - village
First, we’ll tackle life’s big questions: what exactly do all medieval villages have in common? And more importantly, when was “medieval,” anyway? If you’re feeling imaginative, you might even picture yourself trudging up a hill alongside an overburdened donkey, instead of—well, let’s skip that image entirely.
The possibilities here are endless. We can take a sporty walk up to the village, sniff ourselves senseless at a perfumery, and stock up on charming souvenirs that smell of sophistication. Plenty of photo ops too. Then it’s onward to the next delight.

Stop 3: Monaco, Monte Carlo
We’ll size up this glamorous little city-state the way a Roman general might survey a battlefield—from above, of course, because you need the right vantage point to get your bearings. That way, should you ever wake up confused in some obscure corner of the principality, you’ll know exactly where to head to find Monte Carlo again.
Naturally, we’ll visit Monte Carlo itself. Fun fact: the current gambling record started with a gutless complaint – “Darling, Louis Vuitton is literally everywhere. Let’s just pop into the casino for a minute…” — goes up to €12,300. I’ll be honest, that was the most profitable tour we’ve ever run, before or since August 23, 2024. If you fancy having a go, don’t forget your passport (and surely you weren’t planning to come without any cash, were you?)
